wedding time, date and place by Aktivart and Design

Date, Time and Place

After you have decided on the inviting line in the previous section of the workshop, this next part is the "mechanical information" i.e. the date, time and place.

For ceremony and reception sites, street addresses should be included (postal codes are optional, but are more common). All words are spelled out in full, including streets and provinces.

The Reception block appears after the ceremony site and its address. It needs to be simple...people only want to know what time the event starts and which hall to go to. More examples follow.

This example below is a typical invitation, with the names, inviting line, and date, time and place, then reception. The date, time and place are written out in full words (more formal style):

Mr. & Mrs. Victor and Julia Oleksyk
together with
Mr. & Mrs. Ted and Josie Perchal
request the honour of your presence
at the marriage of their children

BRIDE AND GROOM

on Saturday, the sixth day of November
two thousand and twenty-one
at one o'clock in the afternoon

St. Stanislaus Kostka Church
12 Denison Avenue, Toronto, Ontario

Reception to follow at five-thirty
Markland Wood Golf and Country Club
245 Markland Drive, Etobicoke, Ontario

This example below is less formal--the date time and place are written in "alpha-numberic" (numbers and letters) form:

Mr. & Mrs. Victor and Julia Oleksyk
together with
Mr. & Mrs. Ted and Josie Perchal
joyfully invite you to the marriage celebration of their children

BRIDE AND GROOM

on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.

Reception Wording Options
You have written out the ceremony site and it's address. The Reception block comes next.
For weddings where the ceremony and reception are at the same place, you only need to say this (below), as there usually isn't a long time break between ceremony and reception. It's a good idea to specify the name of the rooms in your venue where the ceremony and reception will be held:

Mr. & Mrs. Victor and Julia Oleksyk
together with
Mr. & Mrs. Ted and Josie Perchal
joyfully invite you to the marriage celebration of their children

BRIDE AND GROOM

on Saturday, November 6, 2021

Ceremony at 1:00 p.m. on the Terrace

Reception immediately follows the Ceremony
in the Grand Ballroom
Markland Wood Golf and Country Club
245 Markland Drive, Etobicoke, Ontario

If you prefer to be more specific, you can say this:

Cocktails at five-thirty
Reception and Dinner to follow
Markland Wood Golf and Country Club
245 Markland Drive, Etobicoke, Ontario

When you want to tastefully tell guests your reception is for adults only:

Adult reception at five-thirty
Dinner to follow
Markland Wood Golf and Country Club
245 Markland Drive, Etobicoke, Ontario

It is best to stay positive and elegant in expressing the issue of "no kids". At the bottom of the invite in the corner you can include instead:

Our celebration is limited to guests 16 and over

If you want to get really specific, you can load up with even more information about the reception:

Reception to follow at five-thirty
Starting with cocktails and antipasto bar
Dinner at seven o'clock
Markland Wood Golf and Country Club
245 Markland Drive, Etobicoke, Ontario
